Great Gardens: Las Pozas, Mexico


Las Pozas (“The Pools”) is a subtropical garden established by twentieth-century British poet Edward James. Soaring out of the Mexican jungle near the town of Xilitla, the gardens are home to enormous concrete works of art that live alongside the tropical landscape.

Meet the three finalists who took part in this year’s RHS Young Designer of the Year competition Ula Maria, Anca Panait and Jake Curley.
Our three Young Designer finalists have each created their very first RHS Show Garden. The brief was to create a garden office – inspired by the idea of using gardens as a workspace, whether as a practical or quiet space, a place to hold meetings or space within an urban setting. They produced three stunning designs, winning two Golds and a Silver-Gilt.
